IS THIS RECOMMENDED FOR SOMEONE WHO IS EXPERIENCING VERY CHALLENGING MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES?
It is recommended you consult a doctor or healthcare professional in this field. As outlined, I am not qualified therapist or psychologist. This is a casual, drop in service for people to empower themselves to develop a more positive mindset through group discussion.
DO YOU HAVE ANY PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS?
I have no formal qualifications in psychology or mental health. My formal background is in Economics and Finance and Banking.
However, I have dealt with mental health and well-being issues my whole life. I have tried various traditional outlets such as therapy, hypnotherapy, mind training, medication among other things but personally did not make much progress with any of these. I felt that the professionals I was dealing with had no real-life experience of how my mind was totally inhibiting my life. I have several years' experience facilitating with a different group that held meetings for people struggling with social anxiety. This experience really helped myself and others in dealing with our anxiety and the uncomfortable feelings that inhibited us in our daily lives. Seeing how this transformed myself and others so dramatically pushed me to set up DawnClouds - to help other people to explore and discuss mental well-being issues!
THE THOUGHT OF PARTICIPATING IN THE GROUP DISCUSSIONS MAKES ME NERVOUS. DOES THAT MEAN THIS IS NOT FOR ME?
Absolutely not! Everyone that attends these workshops are trying to work on their mental well-being, so you will be in good company. As explained, if on attending, you feel you do not want to participate in any discussion that will be absolutely fine and totally supported and respected by everyone. Anyone that does not show respect to another member will not be welcome and will be asked to leave. It is the responsibility of everyone that attends to ensure that what is discussed in the group, stays within the group.
